Name of hike

Bateman Island

Hike description

I have not yet done this hike. It is supposed to be very easy and not super long. I am hoping to catch a lot of the migrating birds. Looking at the island map, the loop hike/walk is 2.8 miles. It is supposed to be very easy.

Breezy Winkle (509) 240-3922

Time and distance

1.5 hours, depending on how many birds we stop to enjoy J

Dogs welcome?

Yes, on a leash

Start location

I can meet anyone that wants to follow me on the side of the Shopko parking lot by Myra at 2:00 p.m. I drive a white Honda Insight. Drive time is an hour so we will get to the Bateman Island parking lot at 3:00 if anyone just wants to meet us there. I have room in my car for one person (contact me), but I am going to Red Robin afterwards so you would have to join us there J.

From Walla Walla take US-12 W (28.5 miles). At the Wallula junction turn right to stay on US-12 W (19 miles). Take exit 12A for US-395 S toward Kennewick/Pendleton. Cross the river and keep right to continue on WA-240. Follow signs for Richland (4.5 miles). Take the Columbia Center Boulevard exit. Turn right onto N Columbia Center Blvd. Turn Left onto Columbia Park Trail. It looks like parking is on the right.

What to bring

Warm clothes. Binoculars if you want a close up of some birds. It may be a little muddy as it is raining today.
